Front Street Historic District
The walkable historic core — NRHP-listed. Pre-1900 ironmaster mansions (Biery, Thomas, Fuller families) and dense ironworker rowhomes still line the street grid. The 1768 George Taylor House (Declaration of Independence signer) anchors the district. Many homes are protected by HARB-style historic-district guidelines on exterior changes.
What we see most often
Estate sales from third- and fourth-generation industrial families. Heirs often live in NJ, NY, or further away. Most homes have features (slate roofs, masonry, knob-and-tube, cast-iron drains) that misprice with non-inspector cash buyers.
