The planned company-town core — added to the National Register of Historic Places on January 19, 2018. East-west avenues named for colleges, north-south streets numbered First through Eighth, all laid out by the New Jersey Zinc Company. Mix of early-1900s singles, "doubles," and the commercial spine on Delaware Avenue. The Palmer House (360 Delaware Ave) is the borough's five-story senior residence on the old Palm Theater site. Dense blocks of zinc-era "doubles" (single buildings split into two homes) concentrated near the former West smelting plant, which operated until 1980 and was demolished in 2010. The most uniform company-housing fabric in the borough — built fast and built alike for smelter workers.

The side of the borough nearest the former East Plant (operated 1911-1980, still runs at reduced capacity processing furnace dust into zinc calcine). Mix of company-era housing and later infill, closer to the active industrial parcel and the Aquashicola Creek.

The northern and western edge where the borough grid runs out toward Aquashicola Creek and the foot of Blue Mountain — now revegetated and anchored by the Lehigh Gap Nature Center's 750+ acre preserve. Larger lots, some newer construction, more rural feel than the company-town core.
